Bronson Centre Project - Stage II

August 16, 2009, Pictures & text by Jean Stalker
Stage I | Stage II | Stage III

We returned to the Bronson Centre on Sunday, August 16 to continue the work started August 8.

Participants in Stage II were: Gillian Macdonnell, Jennifer Mix, Connie Munro, Josie Pazdzior, Jennifer Rae, Margaret Scratch, Sylvia Spasoff, and Jean Stalker.

Planting at the Bronson Centre
We planted an array of carefully selected small trees and shrubs and relocated the existing hostas to complement their new neighbours.

Some of the new barberries are truly beautiful.

The spireas are particularly suitable for an urban site.

Roll of edging
The edging posed a special challenge.

It has a mind of its own.

Pinning down the edging.
It put up quite a fight.

Break
We paused for a well-earned break.

End of Stage II
By the end of the morning, the site looked quite promising.

Stage III is scheduled for Saturday, August 22, starting at 9:30 am. That’s when we spread the mulch and sow the grass seed. Join us if you can; there is a lot of satisfaction in rejuvenating a city landmark.

Please contact Jennifer Mix, Community Planting Committee, if you have any questions about the project.
