Annual report of the Ontario Horticultural Association

Ottawa Horticultural Society

During the year, the Ottawa society held 7 major flower shows, including the house plant show of its subsidiary, The Indoor Gardeners. They also sponsored a photography competition and judged all front gardens in one city zone, the best receiving Trillium A ward certificates, the top member's garden a trophy. Juniors had classes in 4 shows and received instruction in arranging and showing from an adult member.

Outings were arranged to the Toronto Spring Show, to Montreal Botanical Gardens, to Peterborough and to Carleton University's greenhouse complex Elba. 500 spring flowering bulbs were planted as well as annuals, at the Bronson Home and Home for the Blind, while trees, shrubs and annuals were planted at a youth hostel in the downtown area.
