President's Message - 1982
Yearbook 1982 page 1 By: Isabel R. Kindle Back to the web versionAs I undertake the task as President for the 2nd year of the Ottawa Horticultural Society, I would like to thank all the members, former members and especially the Board of Directors, for making this past year an enjoyable one.
The Society is involved in many various projects. We have many requests throughout the year and with help from our volunteer members, we try to fulfill most of these requests. In the coming year we expect to be busier than ever.
Our newsletters by Joan Bates will be sent out 4 times instead of the usual 6 per year. This decision was taken because of the increase in postal charges, so please keep them handy for referrals.
The Ontario Horticultural Association will be holding the O.H.A. Convention in Guelph, Ontario this year (see year book for details). As we have a very large membership, please plan to attend. The Convention is for the members from all the 18 Districts, and you have an opportunity to meet old and new friends, and share in their gardening ideas.
Ottawa has many Amateur gardeners, our Garden Competition each year proves this. If you would only show some of these beautiful flowers, our entries in our flower shows would double. Miss Audrey Tweedie keeps a well stocked library, and books are loaned to members.
It takes people to make a Society work, so please help in this our 90th year. I call on members and especially younger members to come out and help make it a big success.
Isabel Kindle, President
