William White
WHITE, William, Canadian official, born in London, England, 6 January, 1830. He was educated at Burlington House school, Hammersmith, and entered the English civil service in 1846, but resigned in 1854, and the same year entered the Canadian post-orate department. He became its secretary in 1861 and deputy postmaster-general in July, 1888. Mr. White was appointed a member of the royal Commission to inquire into the organization of the Canadian civil-service commission in June, 1880. He is lieutenant-colonel of the 4th battalion, and commanded the Canadian team at the matches of the National rifle association at Wimbledon, England, in 1884, when it won the Kolopore cup. He has published " Post-Office Gazetteer of Canada" (Ottawa, 1872), and "Annals of Canada" in the "Canadian Monthly Magazine."

Dr. James Fletcher
There is a fountain outside of the ornamental gardens of the Central Experimental Farm erected in honour of Dr. James Fletcher. The fountain is on the south side of the NCC driveway in front the the Argicultural museum. The Fletcher Wildlife Garden was named in his honour. See the article on Dr. Fletcher in Wikepedia. W. T. Macoun
Dr. W. T. Macoun was a horticulturalist at the Dominion Experimental Farm from 1898-1910 and served as the Dominion Horticulturalist from 1911-1932. As the Dominion Horticulturalist he had 24 experimental farms and stations in Canada under his supervision. he received the Carter Gold Medal for Advancement of Horticulture. He was a founder of the Ontario Horticultural Association as served as the president of the Ottawa Horticultural Society W. T. Macoun passed away in August 1933. A W.T. Macoun menorial fund was supported by 47 Horticultural Societies with donations. The fund was used to build a sun dial and ornamental garden on the site of Dr. Macoun's residence at the Experimental farm. The ornamenal gardens were opened by Prime Minister Mackenzie King and can be seen today. (William Tyrrell), 1869-1933. Trevor Cole
Trevor Cole was Dominion Arborist until his recent retirement. He has written a number of valuable books on gardening both for Agriculture Canada and for commercial publishers. Trevor Cole is a past president of the Ottawa Horticultural Society.
Isabella Preston
The hiring of Isabella Preston, the first woman hybridist in Canada, by the Central Experimental Farm, in 1920, marked the beginning of an emphasis on the breeding of flowering plants and shrubs. She created nearly 200 hybrids. Many of these were lilies, a flower in which she took a life-long interest. You can see a collection of Isabella Preston's Lilacs in the ornamental gardens of the farm.  Isabella Preston was a member of the Ottawa Horticultural Society
