2005 Trillium Awards Page 2 - Linden Terrace

Pictures from the 2005 Trillium Awards - Photos by Jean Stalker

31 Linden Terrace. Second Place

This garden, introduced at the street level by decorative rock and gravel hardscaping softened by creeping evergreen, is an extremely complex collection of trees, shrubs and perennials, which leads the eye ever inward into the depth of the garden, making it actually seem much deeper and more mysterious. The colour, species variety, and habit of the plant material ranges from deciduous plants and trees of all possible colours, from yellow green to silver, and variegation, to evergreens - blues, golds, weeping, ground-covering and upright as well as the wonderful five little pruned balls of goldish evergreen in the foreground. All this interspersed by the strappy leaves of iris siberica and germanica. The massing of the plant material frames the house beautifully and the flat-top pruned tree on the left hand side mirrors, but softens, the hard line of the garage.
