This garden, set across the street from the tulip beds at Dows Lake, is set on land that rises substantially to the house itself, thereby giving the viewer immediate visual access to the whole planting. It is also framed with a wonderful low stone wall and a massive set of stone steps with a curved iron hand rail. At its very best and most colourful in the spring, when the rock garden plants are all in bloom, it nevertheless maintained its structure and balance throughout the year with plants in many shades of green, from greys to golds and multiple textures.Click on the picture to see a larger version
