Average Urban Tolerance of Trees in Ottawa

Urban trees face many stress factors: road salt, vehicle exhaust, soil compaction as well as other difficulties that come with life for a tree in the city. The chart below classifies trees and shrubs according to their sensitivity to the urban environment in Ottawa.
Note if a tree is native to the area or not. Native trees have the distinct advantage of being adapted to local conditions as well as benefiting the overall envornment and wildlife
