W. T. Macoun Dr. W. T. Macoun was a horticulturalist at the Dominion Experimental Farm from 1898-1910 and served as the Dominion Horticulturalist from 1911-1932. As the Dominion Horticulturalist he had 24 experimental farms and stations in Canada under his supervision. he received the Carter Gold Medal for Advancement of Horticulture. He was a founder of the Ontario Horticultural Association as served as the president of the Ottawa Horticultural Society W. T. Macoun passed away in August 1933. A W.T. Macoun menorial fund was supported by 47 Horticultural Societies with donations. The fund was used to build a sun dial and ornamental garden on the site of Dr. Macoun's residence at the Experimental farm. The ornamenal gardens were opened by Prime Minister Mackenzie King and can be seen today. (William Tyrrell), 1869-1933 Vice President, Potato Association of America
