To continuing members of the Ottawa Horticultural Society may we say how nice it is to see you again and to new members we would like to add our word of welcome to those of the officials of the Society.

For years we have looked forward to the arrival of-the new Year Book. This year our anticipation is not unmixed with trepidation. Mr. Fred Pain whose vast experience in this field is matched only by the wealth of new ideas he produces would be even harder to follow if he were not so kind and helpful.

We thank him, and the other members and officials of the Society who have contributed material for the book, which is, after all, a co­operative venture.

And, while we are on the subject of co-operation, may we remind readers that it is our advertisers who make the Year Book possible, and suggest that, to return the compliment, we use their products and services.
