President's Message - 1984

Yearbook 1984 page 1

By: Isabel R. Kindle print friendly version

As we begin our new year of community services, I would like to share with you some of my thoughts and reflections on the Society, its Purpose, Achievements, and the Challenges that it will face in the days ahead.

The Ottawa Horticultural Society has been alive and growing these past 91 years. Like all such societies we exist primarily as an avenue through which our community can be improved and beautified.

We plan to continue planting Annuals and Perennials at the Old Forge Community Centre and McNabb Recreation Centre; I urge all members to try and find time to help with planting and taking care of our Centennial Garden at City Hall too. As the saying goes, "Many hands make light work".

There will be Monthly Meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of every month, with a short business meeting and guest speakers at McNabb Centre at 8:00 o'clock. Please keep your yearbook handy, the Society has a full program for the coming year.

My term as President was made enjoyable by a very helpful Board of Directors, and friendly membership.

Now the time has come to welcome a new President, John Soar, and his Board of Directors, and to wish them all well, as they continue the work of the Society.

In closing, I would remind the members that the Ontario Horticultural, Association will be holding their Convention in Sudbury next June, where one of our dedicated and very hard workers, Maurice Marshall, will be installed as President. I hope as many members as possible will try to attend. Your participation will lend support to Maurice and I know you will enjoy the three days there.

ISABEL R. KINDLE

President
